There will be a mehendi event on Wednesday night starting at 6pm (bridal parties and immediate family) so you might want to fly in earlier (in the day or in the week!) to get situated and visit a few restaurants or relax before we get down to business. Please refer to your individual invite list in the RSVP tab to see the exact events you will be invited to. As for flying out, we plan on ending Saturday night around 12am. Houston and the surrounding area is filled with things to do (see some on things to do page), so be sure to give yourself time to enjoy the area. There are several options to travel in and out of Houston please refer to our travel page.
It's okay! Technology is sometimes a bummer. Just shoot us an email at shifanandericliang@gmail.com to confirm your attendance and any other guests and the corresponding events you will be attending
The Pithi involves sharing love and best wishes. "Pithi" is a paste made of chickpea flour, turmeric, rose water, and other ingredients. The golden concoction is applied to the face, arms, and legs of the bride and groom and traditionally signify the beautification of the couple before the wedding ceremony.
We would like to turn up before we get down for the wedding and see all your lovely faces. Plus there will be food. And there will be henna. And have you met Shifan's family? They sure know how to get the party started the but please wrap it up early because you don't want to miss the events the next day.
TIME TO TURN UP!!! Translating to “sung together” in Sanskrit, the Sangeet is a colorful night of music, dinner, and dancing to celebrate the happiness and joy surrounding the union of the bride and groom. Traditionally, the celebration includes choreographed dances and songs performed by friends and family, speeches, and an open dance floor. Buffet-style Indian food will be served. The night can be summed up as a big dance party that serves to introduce and connect friends and family of Shifan and Eric. We are excited to see your Bollywood and Bhangra moves! If you'd like to be in a choreographed dance performance, reach out to either Shifan or Eric.
Indian weddings are very festive and colorful. We would prefer everyone to join in the experience and wear traditional clothing like a saree or lehenga for women and Kurta for men for the Sangeet. Please know that all traditional Indian wear is encouraged but not required - but please try to stick to the colors outlined for each event! If you are a bit lost for traditional wear, here is a list of websites we recommend: kalkifashion.com almastejani.com perniaspopupshop.com azafashions.com utsavfashion.com lashkaraa.com allborrow.com (renting outfits) Make sure to use the size chart and keep in mind the shipping time as often they ship from India. You can also find stores selling Indian outfits all over the country (especially in the Houston/Dallas area). Alternatively, a long gown or suit (american outfits) would be just fine. Indian outfits are optional but we think it would be really fun if everyone did dress up. If you're still struggling a little bit, please feel free to reach out to Shifan and Eric and they'd be more than happy to help you out!!

Your presence is enough and means the world to us! But if you really insist, please bring a card or check out our Registry! Please no boxed gifts at the wedding. This is a multi-day event and the last thing we want to do is make it more troublesome to travel!
