We wish we could say we had some sweet love story... a chance encounter where we happened to get onto the same chairlift, sparked a conversation, and the rest was history or something... But the reality is, we met on Bumble. Our first exchange was filled with nervous laughter and self-deprecating jokes about the unconventional way we met. But right off the bat, there was a certain spark between us and conversations flowed effortlessly. We spoke for hours on the phone, losing track of time as we delved into each other’s worlds... sometimes chatting into the early hours of the morning. Our initial doubts were quickly replaced by a sense of comfort and familiarity. We bonded over our mutual love for fitness, health, and adventure, and we continued to discover an abundance of common interests and aspirations. But the true test came when James met Paige's son, Finley. And honestly, it couldn't have gone more smoothly. He had all the right words, and he met Finn with so much patience, love, and unwavering support… From the get-go, he treated Finn the same as he would his own kids. He ALWAYS showed up for him. Needless to say, Finley took an immediate liking to James, welcomed him with open arms, and their relationship has only continued to grow. Together, we've embarked on countless adventures… snowboarding in Beaver Creek, wine tasting in Sonoma, scaling mountains in Glacier National Park, buying our first home together, adding our sweet pup Brody to the mix, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. We found our happily ever after and can’t wait to continue building a future together and growing our little family!
On a Shields family trip to Glacier National Park in Montana, the two of us (being the extremists of the group) insisted on seeing one of the last remaining glaciers in the park before our trip ended. Shocked the others didn't want to join us, the two of us proceeded to wake up at 2:30am, drive 230 miles to the opposite end of the park, and embark on our 11 mile hike at sunrise. When we reached the top, James got down on one knee, right in front of Grinnell Glacier and asked me to marry him. Everything about it was perfect. And so SO beautiful. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. See you at the Arboretum!
