Shianne's favorite place has always been Kauai's own Na Pali coast. For 16 miles of northwestern coastline, stunning cliffs drop down into crystal clear water. The surrounding channels and coral reefs are full of marine fauna, while the cliffs are green with foliage watered by numerous cascading falls. Amongst this paradise, there are is a glorious beach called Honupu. Honupu is truly two beaches separated by a massive archway. Both the beaches have an abundance of fine sand dunes, and both are surrounded by the same towering cliffs, making the beach only accessible by water. I decided that I was going to propose to Shianne not only on the Na Pali, but under the Honopu's arch itself. I just needed a way to get there! Ryan McGlophlin was so kind to make his jetski available! He met Shianne and I the morning of to send us off from Kekaha boat harbor. Off we went, meeting hundreds of dolphins along the way. Although I'd never personally been to Honopu, Jake Kuzen and Keale Victorino had helped me chart a path the previous evening. Soon we had arrived! Because Honopu is a sacred beach, we anchored the jetski (mahalo to Aaron Hoff for the anchor) and swam in. We stopped under the arch, and I got down on one knee. SHE SAID YES! Another surprise was in order when my Dad showed up on another boat, bravely swimming through the rising surf to bring a change of clothes for a quick photoshoot. Kevin Anderson had captained Luis Trevino's boat bringing along my dad and a photographer, Esther Brown. After a daunting swim through the raging surf back to the boat, and a quick jetski photo opp, us and the crew headed back to the harbor, meeting some whales along the way! Yet another surprise was in order! On our way home, Shianne and I stopped to grab a bite, and I had a host of our friends present for a big engagement party! (Thank-you to everyone for being there) After the party, we went and watched the sunset from Kokee with our friends Noah and Anna. GOD IS GOOD! What a day!
