Richard and Sheva met at work at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento. Sheva was working as a nurse on night shift in the Medical ICU and Richard was working dayshift on the same unit. They met in passing and giving report to eachother sometimes on the same patients. After the holiday christmas party, Richard asked Sheva out on a date. Sheva did not want to date anyone from work so she said she would be happy to hangout. Their first "hangout" turned into an 11 hour date and they have been inseparable since.

Richard proposed to Sheva in front of the pyramids in Egypt. Sheva was very surprised when Richard got down on one knee in the sand to ask her to marry him. This was their first day in Egypt. Sheva was on the fence about even going on this trip because of travel warnings just a few days prior. It turned out to be one of their best trips ever and were thrilled they went. They were so happy that their siblings, Ryan and Nadia, were able to be there for their special moment.
