Tyler relentlessly tried to capture my attention via Facebook. We were never in the same place at the same time in life. After many unsuccessful attempts, he gave up and we would only talk from time to time... Until one night when we crossed paths (literally) outside a frat house a UPJ. He didn't even notice me! I turned to my friends and said "That was Tyler Boyd and he totally blew me off!" I followed this up with a phone call to Tyler in which I told him how hurt I was that he could just walk right on by me without even noticing! Minutes later he came back and found me and we've been inseparable ever since... (So for the record, I caught him, he didn't catch me - lol!)
Tyler being the sweet and sentimental guy that he is and knowing the superstitious kind of person that I am, officially asked me to be his girlfriend on November 11, 2011 at 11:11 PM.
Tyler told me that we were going to dinner as one of his Christmas gifts to me. I told him this seemed like a silly gift as we typically go to dinner frequently as a regular date-night activity. On our way to dinner, we ended up getting lost. (Thinking back, this was totally contributed to Tyler's nerves as he knows the route to the restaurant like the back of his hand.) Not only did we get lost, but he told me we had to make a stop on the way - by this time my nerves are shot and all I can think about is how we are going to miss our reservation. We finally ended up at the Point Park Christmas tree. Tyler said he brought me there because although we had spent 3 Christmas seasons together in Pittsburgh at that point, we had never been to see the tree. We walked hand in hand up to the tree and when we reached the bottom, he said we should try looking at it from the opposite side so we could see the city lights behind it. When we walked to the other side of the tree a photographer approached us and said that he had been hanging around the tree that evening taking pictures of families and couples for his portfolio and asked if we would mind if he took some photos of us? We told him that we didn't mind and asked him to position us where he needed us. After giving some direction he snapped a few pictures and then to my surprise, Tyler got down on one knee!! I immediately began to cry and said "No you're not!!!" Tyler laughed, said "Yes, I am." and then asked me the most important question he has ever posed to me in my life.. "Will you make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife?" I couldn't even get the words out of my mouth - I just shook my head yes as he placed the beautiful ring on my finger! As Tyler stood up, he then explained that the photographer wasn't randomly there for the evening, he had actually hired him to be there to capture the moment!! It was the most thoughtful gesture to have the most important, perfect, special moment captured on film.
