Olivia and Carlos both downloaded the same silly app to meet other people called MeetMe. They had both liked one another and so Carlos messaged Olivia with his phone number. After just a few texts they decided to go on a date. (Olivia NEVER met with anyone she met online, but decided to take a chance with this one). Olivia's parents were nervous about her going on a date with an online dude, they had to meet him (even though there was no front porch at the time, it was being replaced). When they saw that he was a harmless 19 year old boy they were at ease. Carlos had a busy night planned. First they went to Dave and Buster's where they played air hockey and laughed until they were hungry. Next they enjoyed a meal at Texas Roadhouse and got so wrapped up in the conversation they didn't even realize that the place had closed and hour ago. Finally they saw the worst movie of their lives After Earth, despite the terrible movie these young kids had a fabulous first date, and both knew there was a future with the other.
After four and a half years of support, laughter, tears, but especially love Carlos decided it was the time. He knew that Olivia had been looking at rings and they had been talking about marriage for some time now. On a whim he called up Olivia's mom to buy the perfect ring. Catherine told Carlos to buy the wrong ring at first. When they realized the mistake Carlos rushed back to the store to purchase the ring of Olivia's dreams. Fast forward two weeks, Carlos asked Olivia's dad to go to Star War's: The Last Jedi. This is where Carlos asked for Troy's blessing to marry his daughter. Troy was excited for this news and said "absolutely". Carlos contemplated the perfect way to ask the most important question of his life. He decided that he would do it on Christmas morning. He carefully taped the ring box in a much larger box under a bathrobe to throw Olivia off (it worked). Because Olivia's family knew, they made sure that it was the last Christmas gift to be opened. As each gift was unwrapped Carlos' anticipation grew and the butterflies in his stomach fluttered faster and faster. Olivia had no idea that there was a ring in the bottom of the box and was a little disappointed to open a bathrobe as the 'special present'. Even when she took the bathrobe out and saw the jewelry box at the bottom she still wasn't convinced that it was a ring, and she thought it was earrings. It wasn't until Carlos got on one knee that she realized what was happening. She was flooded with emotion and cried and of course, to Carlos' relief, she said yes!
