Trevor was out on his boat with a friend and Julia was headed to the state park with her friend for a double date. Not long after arriving, Julia posted on a photo at the lake on Instagram. Their dates were nearly two hours late! After waiting a couple hours, Julia received a text from Trevor's friend inviting her and her friend onto the boat with a note that said, "Trevor wants some girls on the boat" and that's all she wrote! We met for the last first time on Claytor Lake. Anyone who knows Trevor knows that he wouldn't have it any other way. Although we had gone to high school together and our paths surely crossed at some point, we didn't officially get introduced until this day on the lake after we both had graduated.
Coronavirus had started its invasion of the U.S. and Julia had decided to quarantine with Trevor in Winston-Salem in order to help with starting the garden they planned for the summer. Trevor had finally gotten the ring in the mail (against all odds!) and had begun planning the proposal. He had rented the Gardens at Reynolda for the proposal, but led Julia to believe that he would propose in the back yard at the house (because where else could they go with everything closed?!). The night before the proposal Trev's photographer called to cancel because she had been exposed to coronavirus. Trevor searched and searched and finally found someone to come at the last minute and the rest went off without a hitch! Trevor proposed in front of the greenhouse at Reynolda Gardens, a place we would come everytime Julia visited. It was the perfect location and holds a special place in both of our hearts. We are so very excited to share this place with our friends and family on July 11th!
