Sherwin Wah Chen is the love of my life. He makes me laugh in my belly every single day, and I can never expect what random and weird thing he’ll say next. If competing were a competition, he’d win every time (just don’t suggest that you play 3 person settlers). He’s so sweet: he washes all my dishes when I’m stressed and makes me my favorite meals. And yes, we’re ten thousand times more annoying when we’re together. Bless you all for putting up with us... for the rest of our lives. —Regina

I've known Rebecca for 32 years and 11 months. She is my twin, sister, best friend. She's been by my side through every bad haircut (hers, of course. Let's forget about that period I looked like a boy), weight change, breakup, celebration. There's no one more fun to travel with, even though I usually want to stay in and she wants to plan every minute. Rebecca has always been the taller, prettier, better at basketball, weirder, goofier, sillier one. I'm lucky to have her by my side, so people might think I'm sane. Rebecca never liked anybody I ever dated until Sherwin... that's probably why I picked him. (He's weirder than both of us combined!) Honored to have her be by my side.
Sinclair Chen

Sherwin remembers the day his brother was born. In that hospital room was where they met, his face round and bright red. They spent the rest of their childhoods together, sharing a room until Sherwin left for college. Sinclair was a classic younger brother, doing everything older brother did. He was eager to be on the receiving end of the latest wrestling move, eager to go second or even third when playing games, sat in the middle or sometimes the trunk in car rides, and was always just happy to be there. Sinclair is a man of character, integrity, and online shopping deals. He loves Jesus, his family, his friends, and he loves his older brother. Sherwin always knew that it would be Sinclair standing next to him on his big day.
Jeanny Kim

Jeanny and I met my freshmen year of college. We were at a "girls' night in" and everyone was making play dough cookies: flowers, rainbows, puppies. It's been so long, I don't remember which way it went, but I think I was feeling the need to express myself, so I jammed a few colors together and starting making a coil of poop. As people starting edging away from me, Jeanny took some yellow play dough and stuck it in... "It's the corn!" Followed by her maniacal laugh. She's been my fashionista, has probably gone with me to get more haircuts than my mom, and I can't wait for the day when we're middle aged women, taking long walks around the neighborhood and chatting.

Sherwin and Jacky first met in the first grade. Sherwin was rocking a fresh bowl along with all the other kids. But Jacky, he was sporting a rat tail like a demigod amongst men. AND suspenders. Their relationship bloomed out of their shared interest in being Chinese, cartoons, and drawing those cartoons. Jacky was pretty good, but Sherwin was undeniable better. Their friendship was solidified in their teenage years when they found each other again after an absence due to changing schools. Jacky was now rocking a bleach blonde middle part (aka the butt-crack). But it was dope. He also had huge pants, we all did. Jacky loved hair so much that he asked Sherwin if he would be willing to let Jacky practice on him. Since then Jacky has always cut Sherwin's hair.
Tricia LaMontagne

Tricia was my senior slave in college, back in the oughts when we didn't know any better. Over the last 10 years, Lil T and I could barely hang out without crying (I guess it's a theme). She doesn't have facebook, and I don't save things properly, so it's been really hard to find a good photo of us, but I have about a gazillion hand written notes -- for every birthday, randomly for fun, and for major life changes, she's been there with her impeccably cute handwriting. She always lights up every room she walks into with her effervescent smile, and she gives the best hugs (even though sometimes her chin jabs into your sternum). Luckily for me she's 4'11" (5'0" on a good day), so when we pulled all nighters and had sleepovers, we could share my bed without even touching.
Kenny Wu

Confession: The only reason Sherwin and Kenny became friends was because Kenny had every single Power Rangers toy ever produced. It was the only thing Sherwin wanted to do when they were hanging out. Then one day the toys had inexplicably vanished. Sherwin was heartbroken, and saw little incentive to hang out any further. But children are dumb and they don't follow through on their intentions, and thus a friendship was saved. They, along with Jacky from up top, spent a lot of time together. We're talking late 90's early 2000's golden era of adolescence: mall arcades, playstation 2, AOL Instant Messenger, flip phones, Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, and Dance Dance Revolution. There's more, but you the picture. Kenny's friendship will always been a constant in Sherwin's life.
Jinhee Lee

If you knew nothing else about Jin-Hee, you should know this: for my 19th birthday, she surprised me and we walked from my dorm room to dinner with some friends singing happy birthday and Jin-Hee playing the flute. We were paired up in a discipleship program together, before we really knew the meaning of the word, and we always had a box of tissues ready for our inevitable cry fest. Now that she's older and the lovely mother of 2 (+1 soon), she doesn't drink, goes to sleep early, and wants to stay in... the friend I always wished she would be.
Jon Verney

Jon was already sitting on the top bunk of their bunk bed when Sherwin walked into his freshman year dorm, thus relegating him to the bottom bunk. It is true that everyone in art is better than you, so naturally, they stuck the two most awkward, least adjusted, people together in the same room so they wouldn't bother anyone else. While everyone was going out exploring Boston on the weekends, Sherwin and Jon staying in to watch the Big Lebowski for the 32nd time in a row and they started early so they would make sure to be in bed by 10pm. They once cooked a batch of chili that turned Jon into a vegetarian. They were roommates for all four years of their stint at MassArt. Their long and arduous days in the studio ended with pizza and existential crisis. Jon tells all the best stories.
Stefanie Wessner

Stefanie is my butt buddy. In studio, our desks faced away from each other, and our butts basically touched. For two years, I spent more time with Stefanie than her husband (sorry, Sam!). I don't know if I would have made it through grad school without Stef. When I had surgery, Stef took me to get a pedicure (so when all I could do is lie in bed, at least I would have pretty toes to look at), and she had our friends make me a calendar full of inside jokes and crushes, counting down the days until I was off crutches. Sometimes you marry up, and sometimes you marry down: for two years, I married up--way up.
Kenneth Nowlan

Kenneth moved from small town Alabama to small city Boston during Sherwin's Junior year of College. They bonded over a love of comics and all things nerdy pop culture. Kenneth also bought Sherwin some of his first drinks, before Sherwin even knew what an east coast IPA was. Their relationship spans 3 apartments in 8 years. 8 wonderful years spent up late playing smash brothers, drinking on the porch, listening to Radiohead. Kenneth has all the best tattoos and is more flexible than anyone in the room. Kenneth loves his friends and believes in them. He has always been in Sherwin's corner, the ever-present advocator. Sherwin is grateful that Kenneth flew all this way to be in his corner once again.
Mark Kammel

Mark was a freshman when Sherwin was a Senior at MassArt. They met at Intervarsity Fellowship, where Mark was a regular for about a month before completely disappearing for the rest of the semester. The following semester he reappeared, speaking of how God had changed him and he wanted to be more invested in his relationship with Jesus. Mark and Sherwin became roommates the following year. They would turn off the lights and play nerf guns in the apartment for hours. Yelling matches over Settlers of Catan was a household fixture. They rode bikes around downtown Boston after midnight. Mark is an award winning cinematographer, husband and dog owner. To this day Mark won't stop texting Sherwin, asking him to play CS:GO, even though Sherwin insists that he's "left that life behind him."
Bruce Liu

Sherwin has Bruce to thank for many things; his love for fantasy football, his vision for thriving Jesus community, his relational advice, his spiritual maturity and humility, and most importantly his addiction to Hearthstone. Sherwin is forever Bruce's bro, co-best man at Bruce's own wedding one year ago. Their relationship was built on a foundation of fashion advice, girl talk, and CCFC's young adult fellowship, Bruce's over the top birthday parties, and eating in Chinatown during lunch. Now that Bruce is married and on the west coast, they seldom get to do the things of old. But they will always have gchat to talk about life, girls, and games.
Yi David Yang

When Yi first moved to Boston, his hair was longer than Sherwin's, but look who's laughing now? Yi lived down the street from Sherwin in Allston and naturally this made it easier to play video games together. They also did other things, ride bikes, cook and hang out, but smash brothers will always have a deep place in their relationship. They once stayed up all night playing at Bruce's house in an event non-ironically named, STD - Smash Til' Dawn. Sherwin has been to more of Yi house concerts than anyone in Boston. They once fit his Marimba in Sherwin's Honda Fit. Yi is an excellent chef, musician, husband, joke teller, and bowler. You all should really see him throw a bowling ball. It's ridiculous.
