The Beach House

Good for: Casual lunch/dinner They have a shrimp taco that absolutely slaps and it was dangerous to live a quarter mile away in Connor’s old apartment

The Farish House

Good for: Dinner We celebrated Sherry's birthday here once and she wept into her mac and cheese (out of love for everyone there, but also because it's a really excellent mac and cheese)

The Gladly

Good for: Lunch, happy hour, dinner Be sure to order the famous chopped salad with double salmon!!

Glai Baan

Good for: Casual lunch, dinner One of Phoenix's finest specializing in Thai street food. Favorites include papaya salad, chicken wings, pork skewers, and curry. Reservations accepted for dinner service only over the phone

Harvey's Wineburger

Good for: Casual lunch, dinner, late night bite One time on a Tuesday night at 10 pm we looked at each other and decided we wanted burgers, so naturally Harvey's was the place to be. Don't expect fast service but be charmed by and slightly wary of its dive-y nature

Huarachis Taqueria

Good for: Dinner, late night bite, weekend lunch/brunch Bacanora's sister restaurant in downtown Phoenix. Sherry is ready to declare the fried hongos (mushroom) taco as the best thing she ate in 2024 (time of writing: January) Update in March: Sherry has now been to Huarachis 4 times in 3 months and implores you to order the hongos and lengua tacos and the papas al disco

Good for: Everything This address is for Arcadia, but there's also a downtown location. House chips and greyhound = combo of champions

JL Patisserie

Good for: Pastries Pain au chocolat, need we say more

Joe's Diner

Good for: Casual breakfast/brunch You won't find a better stack of pancakes in the Valley. Joe's Diner is an institution and also located in the Melrose neighborhood with lots of vintage shopping and other bars & restaurants

La Santisima

Good for: Casual lunch, dinner World's best salsa bar, extensive margarita list, and a barbacoa soup that Sherry dreams about regularly

ollie vaughn's

Good for: Breakfast, brunch, coffee, pastries to-go Great croissants, danishes, and sweet treats here as well a decadent baked egg brunch dish

Otro Cafe

Good for: Everything, but especially brunch Delightful spot not too far from the Hilton with a coffee shop called Cafecito inside as well

Pane Bianco Central

Good for: Casual lunch Chris Bianco's spot for sandwiches. Get the italian but sub focaccia instead of country loaf. Also, don't sleep on the calzone

PHX Burrito House

Good for: Everything We’ve actually never had anything but the breakfast burrito here but they have non-breakfast options too and the salsa verde is elite

Taco Chelo

Good for: Casual lunch, dinner We've walked over for many hungover or pre-Suns/Dbacks game tacos, margs, and micheladas. The costra is a must

Tacos Chiwas

Good for: Casual lunch, dinner Another go-to for Mexican in Phoenix

Tratto

Good for: Dinner We've celebrated Connor's new job here and our anniversary. Cacio e pepe is off menu but a no-brainer. Pork chop is also amazing

Valentine

Good for: Coffee and pastry run, brunch, dinner Elote pasta and the soft pretzel are our favorites. Speakeasy cocktail bar (Bar 1912) in the back!

Windsor

Good for: Casual brunch, lunch, dinner, cocktails, everything Go-to spot in our neighborhood. We always order a cinnamon roll for the table at brunch

Changing Hands Bookstore

Incredible shop where Sherry spends most of her time/money. A coffee shop/bar is also inside. It's close by restaurants and other fantastic Uptown Phoenix local businesses (Frances, Local Nomad)!

Cholla Trailhead Camelback Mountain

Hiking - difficult. Bring LOTS of water. Sherry hasn’t even done this so good luck (Connor says it's "not that bad")
