We met at our gym. We often worked out at the same time of day and spent many years in passing. With only a “hey” or a quick glance here and there. On occasion Matt would ask if I was using a piece of gym equipment, my answer was always “yes, I’m using all of it!”, we’d laugh and then go about our business. One random day in May of 2016, we ended up next to each other on the treadmills for some much needed, but never wanted, cardio. We started with a basic conversation of “how’s it going?” Then quickly ventured into talks of food and traveling.... before we knew it about an hour had passed. Finally one of us decided to end the conversation and that was that, or so we thought. We both believe the universe brought us together that day, as both our lives as we knew it were in need of change, a new direction, a path of happiness and excitement. Long story short we found ourselves in a quick spiral of crazy love and as they say “the rest is history” in the making!

As our relationship was quickly moving along, it became apparent that we had a strong desire to spend as much time together as we could. All too often we ended up at the beach in one way or another, rain or shine (good old Oregon coast). We went to Mexico together in the first few months of dating. I believe that is where we fell in love with each other and in love with going to the beach together. On our way home from that trip we were already plotting out how to get to another beautiful beach together... talks of Hawaii were instantly in the works. We planned our trip for the following spring. May of 2017 we land on the big island of Hawaii, both very excited as neither of us have been there and we can not wait to explore the new destination together. We were staying in a perfect little condo in Kona with an awesome view of the ocean. We had a great first half day and decided to retire on our lanai to watch the sunset. With emotions of love and unexplainable excitement and tension in the breeze I see Matt out of the corner of my eye fidgeting with his shorts.... many thoughts running through my head all at once. I turn to look only to see him on one knee with his beautiful blue eyes gazing up at me. He asked... and obviously I said yes! I even answered before he could finish the sentence. In all the excitement we found ourselves chuckling at the fact that we don’t like to wait, we both know what we want, and life is too darn short. When you know, you know.
