We met in the 3rd grade at Toll Gate Grammar School in Ms. Cloonan’s class. I (Sheridan) was in the front of the class eager to answer all the questions while Colin was in the back with the boys. In middle school, we were in some of the same friend circles but I was too afraid to talk to boys so I knew who Colin was but that was the extent of it. Fast forward to January 2016 when we were both living in the NYC area. I was very single and eager to at least make some new friends who were male - so, bridesmaid Maddie Scherer then stepped in and mentioned Colin’s name and that he had recently moved to Hoboken. I knew nothing about adult Colin so I figured why not invite him to my birthday party! He respectfully declined as he had other plans for that evening, but he invited us to his place the following weekend for none other than the classiest of parties - beer olympics. I was shocked when Colin chose his “hometown pick” to be on his team and called my name - the girl who doesn’t even drink beer… After a day of drinking and some very light flirting, I invited myself and the other girls back the following weekend for the Super Bowl since they had cable. Colin did not hesitate to say yes and before we knew it, we were back on the couch sitting next to each other. It was the last quarter of the game when Colin leaned over and said “So, when do I get to take you out?” To which I promptly replied, “You want to take ME out? A week later, we had a magical first date during one of the coldest nights in NYC and the rest is history…
