We met the weekend that I moved to Kansas City. I only had a downtown apartment, a job, and hope that great things were to come- but an unknown future. Looking back, one of the greatest things that came at that time was JD. We matched on Facebook, and FaceTimed and snapchatted constantly. After about a month, he told me he’d bought a plane ticket to come meet me. I wasn’t nervous, he’d felt like a close friend already- not a stranger I’d only talked to on the phone. I’ll always remember picking him up at the airport and hugging him for the first time. I felt so little in his arms, but it was one of the best hugs ever. I looked up at him and said “you’re so big!” Little did I know that one hug would turn into many airport hugs saying “see ya later”. Distance was expensive and so tough, especially with him working night shift and being in different time zones as well. We counted down the days until we saw each other again, and JD never let me leave without having a plan on when he’d visit next or I’d come back.   A year later, my lease was running out and we knew it was time to fill the distance between us. So I packed up my 1 bedroom apartment and drove 9 hours south to begin forever with my love.
