Amanda and Collin met, somewhat miraculously, in the Detroit airport! Amanda was waiting for a flight to Rome (which was horribly delayed) and wandering through the terminal to pass the time. At the same moment, Collin was walking (notable, as he usually takes the tram when in Detroit) through the very same terminal, on his way home from North Carolina. Amanda spotted him and, having both gone to Hope College, couldn’t help but recognize him. Being the raging extrovert that she is, she stopped him, saying “you went to Hope, right?” Collin said that he did, in fact, and was one of the Breit boys - his younger brother being a long lost friend of Amanda’s. Small talk ensued and Collin managed to mention he was single at least once before he asked “Where are you headed?” “To Rome!” Amanda replied. In an unbelievable twist of fate, Collin shared that he would be traveling to Rome in only two days! After exchanging numbers and a fruitless attempt to meet up in Italy (Collin will tell you Amanda “left him on read”), Collin called Amanda out of the blue two weeks later asking if she would like to meet up while he was “visiting friends in Cincinnati” (a lie). A date at the Cincinnati Art Museum sealed their fate and they married excitedly and swiftly 10 months later with no doubt that their chance meeting was thanks to divine intervention!
