Meghan and Matt met when Matt moved to Lake George during their freshman year of high school. While they knew each other, and had several classes together over the years, their friendship didn’t evolve until after they graduated in 2010. While their college ventures sent them in different directions, different countries for that matter, after their freshman year they rekindled their friendship and have been together ever since. Their official first date was May 17, 2011 at the Grist Mill Restaurant in Warrensburg NY. They make a point of going their for their anniversary every year as it is one of their favorite places to dine.
Matt had been planning on proposing to Meghan for quite sometime and with their upcoming trip to Ireland, he knew he wanted to pop the question there. With this in mind, he invited Meghan's Parent's to join them to go across the Atlantic on a two week vacation with them. The Planning: What's a trip to Ireland without spending the night in a castle, right? Matt and Meghan knew they wanted to stay in a Castle during their journey across Ireland. So after doing an abundance of research, they planned an overnight stay on October 31st at Ballyseede Castle in Tralee County Kerry in hopes to encounter some "spirits" (Not at the Bar). After the stay was booked, Matt realized that would be the perfect place to ask the question. At that point, he reached out to the staff at Ballyseede informing them of his plans to propose in the gardens on property the night of their stay. They were so excited and were nice enough to upgrade our room to the Bridal Suite with a gorgeous view of the gardens so Matt could scope it out before hand. The Day Of: The morning of the proposal Matt, Meghan, and her parents left Cork traveling through the Gap of Dunloe in Killarney National Park (Probably one of the most intimidating yet beautiful drives ever). A narrow one lane road with two way traffic and cliffs on one side gave matt the confidence he needed as he knew that after a drive like that he could do anything. When they arrived to the castle and checked in, Meghan had a slight feeling that something was happening when they walked into the Bridal Suite in which they were nice enough to upgrade them to. They spent the night in enjoying a delicious dinner, cocktails, and good company at the castle bar. After dinner as they went for a walk in the gardens Matt got down on one knee, and the rest is history.
