At any family gathering, you’ll find us throwing a ball for the dogs or trying out whatever Riley’s new hobby is that month.

Oldest brother, youngest by heart health—Adam taught me how to be 90’s cool, broaden my taste in music, root for the NY Rangers, and accept defeat in Street Fighter. He aced his medical boards; I aced Through the Fire and Flames on Guitar Hero. We both found our strengths.

Kurt proudly holds the coveted title of “funcle” to the Shenk hooligans. He’s always the one bringing the good time, and the big smile, to any gathering. Deeply loyal, endlessly supportive, and still out here cooking the rest of us on the tennis court. At any family event, you’ll find him asking if you’ve considered turning your home into an Airbnb.

Andy showed me that you can slack off and get good grades; something I’m still doing at work to this day! He’s the only one who stuck to our roots in our home state of NY as he enjoys paying taxes, but luckily uses his CPA to write it all off. Growing up, there wasn’t an antique, video game controller, or girls hearts that we weren’t breaking — Andy is the true embodiment of a wonderful brother.

Nothing brings two people together like the trauma bond of college sports, Cromwell 202 forever. Though our soccer careers may have died in college, our friendship has always been tied together by invisible strings of girlie pop music, books, and trash tv. No one has a bigger heart than Nicole. And if I had to pick a favorite podcast, it’d be one of her voice memos while she’s driving down 83.

Mark and I were inseparable growing up—I legitimately spent more time at his house than my own! Looking back, I am unsure if we got in more trouble at school or at Horizon Farms. There are countless memories, stories, and family guy quotes that I will always cherish. Love you pookie

Not everyone you meet on Craigslist is a killer. Michele holds the record for my longest standing roommate, coming in at five years over two houses, four dogs, and one pandemic. Lawyer by day, yoga teacher by the ungodly hours of the morning, and mother to the coolest toddler. Michele will have you convinced she has more hours in the day than you.

To tearing up the dance floors at brick, banging on the glass at hockey games, or taking on international competition on the tennis courts— Luke and I were a real gruesome twosome at Miami. Fun fact: We’ve both lived in Europe! Ben and Boos forever

We met at church camp, which means our friendship has survived overly dramatic testimonies and 15+ years of growing up. The girl with a color coded agenda for maximum fun, my fashion advisor, and the biggest laugh in the room. Wherever life has taken me, its never been far from you (no really, I can't seem to live in a different zip code than you).

Cody and I met at work and was always my go-to for excel wizardry. Now we both ‘hold the line’ in the rhythm section of our band and you can often find us squabbling over who needs more space for their instruments on stage! Cody is always down for a cold beer, and I love him for that.

We met in a hopeless place (Facebook roommates group), when she was just a pharmacy tech in hell (CVS). Almost a decade later, she's still my first call to explain medication. My favorite loud talking, fiercely loyal, jeopardy loving friend who brings the party wherever she goes. Ask her about DC sports, she'd love to commiserate.

I adopted Indi and Mary in the same week - Mary turned out to be the better roommate. I couldn't have picked someone better to close out my roommate era with than her. Marigold, lary, miss mary mack, mary marzapan, would describe her perfect day as one where every minute is accounted for with an activity. If she's late to the wedding, just know she was smoking someone on the volleyball court. She keeps us young.

The mongaloid, the myth, and the legend behind the mic— Ben and I moved into an apartment together in Bmore and the rest was history. From jamming together, to making fun of me for my obsession with jam, he’s been the embodiment of a true brother in Christ. Ben is one of the greatest guys that I know, and his endless talent never fails to amaze me (let me know when you finish the lyrics on our next song so you can help write my vows)

It only made sense to give my most responsible brother the only role with real deliverables. Neal has always been my spiritual north star, an incredible brother, and father to FOUR of the seven shenk kids. At a family gathering you can find him leading the kid's bible study, playing piano, or whatever other task my mom has dreamed up for him.
