Because our venue has a strict capacity limit, we sadly can only accommodate the children in our wedding party. If this will impact your ability to attend, please reach out so we can brainstorm a solution! Kids are welcome at the other events over the weekend.
Ubering TO the wedding venue is totally possible. Because the venue is in a relatively remote area, there is a possibility that it could be difficult to find an uber to take you home.
Yes!
Yes, we'd love to see you at the welcome party on Friday, 9/20 at Metrobar in DC! Details are in the "events" section of this website. Please RSVP to each event that you think you will attend.
We plan on having shuttles to transport guests. They will depart from and return to the Madison Hotel. Please make sure to let us know in your RSVP whether you plan to use the shuttle.
Our wedding venue is about 50 minutes from Washington, DC however we love DC, and want to share our city with you all, which is why we opted to host our other events in DC. We determined that the most convenient place for our guests to stay would be in DC, which is why we have a room block set up at the Madison Hotel (see the travel page for details.). There are tons of other hotels in DC, so feel free to pick whatever appeals to you! Keep in mind that we are planning on having the shuttle pick up and return to the Madison Hotel. For those who prefer to stay closer to the venue, there are a number of hotels near the Rio Gaithersburg which is only a 20 minute drive from the venue. There are also some Airbnb's in the area- check out Gaithersburg, Poolesville, and Germantown for options close-ish to the venue.
This is an excellent question, and one that Joanna has many theories for: 1) The flash mob proposal he had planned fell through, and he had to scramble for new ideas 2) He was waiting to ask for permission for my hand from our dog, but hadn't found a professional dog translator yet. 3) He was too busy advocating for urban gondolas at the state and local level.
Luke and Joanna met in 2014, on a prehistoric dating app called "OK Cupid." Joanna messaged Luke first, mostly because he referenced her favorite show, 30 Rock. Luke was only planning on living in DC for a few months before returning to Vermont, but something *ahem* compelled him to change his plans and stay in DC.
