Some may say it was Jewish Geography, others may say it was technology, but if you ask Spencer and Shellie, they say it was simply fate… It all started when Shellie was doing what she does best; singing and dancing the night away at a Post Malone concert at MSG. Naturally, her cousin (special shoutout Brooke) got it all on Instagram, but didn’t expect her friend Laynie’s older brother and Brooke’s fellow camp friend to slide into her DMs (it’s not what you’re thinking people!) and message “Woah, who is that girl? She’s cute…”. Brooke responded, “she’s my cousin but sorry, think she’s seeing someone” and continued her night without mention of the message to Shellie, thinking it was nothing more than a hi & bye chat… Fast forward a few months when Shellie decided to download the new, hot dating app on the block called “Hinge” to see where it could take her dating life. She set her preferences to “Male, Jewish, Age 22-26, NYC”. Even though there must be thousands of people who fit within those parameters, Shellie quickly found ‘Spencer Kirsch, 26, NYC’ accompanied by a number of photos that quickly grabbed her attention, due to Spencer’s dashing good looks (<- one of the few parts of this Spencer felt like editing 😏). She thought to herself, “this guy looks too good to true, so what’s the catch?”. Well, they matched on the app and texted for a day or two, when Shellie courageously asked, “So texting with you is great and I can tell we’d get along, let me know if you’d want to grab a drink sometime?”. Eagerly, Spencer obliged with a “Yes! How about Oscar Wilde tomorrow night at 9 pm?”. Unbeknownst to them at the time, that text would lead to their last-ever first date… December 19th, 2019 (The First Date): Spencer and Shellie instantly lock eyes at the front door and sit for a drink. If you know these two, you can image they were non-stop chatting for a good three hours (and seemingly 100 drinks later!) about each other’s family, personal interests, and everything in between. Eventually, Spencer gets up and says, “okay, I like you, let’s get out of here”. Not knowing what that was leading to, and with some skepticism, Shellie agreed and they leave the bar together. Next thing she knew, she was having the greatest (and longest) first date of her life! They went to a speakeasy up the street where they shared a first kiss (yes, people they knew that was quick but hey, they just knew), and then went for a late dinner and eventually went their separate ways. To top the night off, Spencer preceded to wake his sister Laynie up with a 2 AM phone call to anxiously tell her “Layn, this girl is amazing. I know this is soon, but I think I found the one.” … And the rest was history! Now a few years later, and they couldn’t be happier or more in love. Everyone who has met Spencer and Shellie knows that they’re meant to be. Within a few minutes of hanging out with them, it’s easy to see how they’ll forever be best friends and endlessly in love. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for us as we start this incredible new chapter of our lives together. If you’re reading this, you likely played a part in this love story, so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Let the celebrations continue!
