Julia and David met in Tunisia in March 2021. We first started talking online, prevented from meeting each other in person by Covid restrictions and 320 miles distance. We talked online for months, and then, (plot twist!), we decided to call things off. The following summer, David told Julia that he still missed her, and we started dating again, travelling up and down the country to see each other. We realized that our relationship made us love God more. Our story is one of God's sovereignty in bringing two people together from two different cultural contexts to meet in one country, and His perfect timing and grace towards us. We are so thankful to Him for bringing us together!
Julia and David travelled to the USA to introduce David to Julia's family and friends. While there, David bought a ring, and began scheming with some of Julia's friends and family to plan the proposal and a party afterwards. A week before the proposal, David began sending Julia a mysterious countdown, so she had an idea of when the proposal might be happening! However, he got the countdown wrong so she was very thrown off. The day of the proposal, David picked her up and took her to beautiful Birmingham Botanical Gardens. When they arrived, he pulled out a guitar, began singing a song that he had written for Julia. At the end of the song, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! Julia said undoubtedly, "YES"! It was the perfect day.
