The year was 2009. The urge to make it big with my sisters' and my band "The Share" was strong. The solution? Get hired at the cafe of a music venue! Little did I know how much impact walking into Jammin' Java to ask for a job would have on my entire life. Jesse was (and is!) extremely cute. We had so much fun becoming friends working behind the counter. We flirted over countless steamed drinks, bags of chili, and tomato restocking, all the while being serenaded by children's bands during our time on the day staff. I had a feeling my crush might be mutual when Jesse agreed to come with me to The Share's first house show performance. I was so nervous in so many ways that day, but I'll never forget it! After we performed, he stood close to me as we watched other bands, and soon after we held hands and had our first kiss! Jesse asked me to be his girlfriend on September 16th, 2009, late one night inside the ship on the playground at the old Cox Farms in Vienna. I said of course! Sometime over the next 9 years, the playground got torn down, and Jesse joined me on a dance trip to France. We sat in a rose garden by the Eiffel tower and he got out a ring and we made it official! Moral of the story, The Share DID end up getting to perform at Jammin' Java (twice!) and I got a husband out of the deal! Being with him reminds me, every day, of how lucky I am.
