Taylor and Shelby both work in Special Education for Alpine School District in Utah County. During Shelby’s first year of teaching, she held her first work meeting with all service providers and parents. Taylor was one of the first to arrive. During some light conversation in the conference room, Taylor learned that Shelby was a Christian and attended church in Orem. With that in mind, Taylor knew he wanted to find a way to connect with her outside of school. After a quick Instagram re-download and a follow request, he waited for Shelby’s response. That simple connection led to many conversations over the phone. Taylor soon got Shelby’s number, graduating from Instagram DMs, and before long, he asked her out on their first date. On that date, they discovered how much they had in common and how natural it felt to be together—sparking the beginning of the rest of their lives. Over the next year, they made it a priority to spend as much time together as possible, even with their busy schedules coaching and serving in their respective churches. They quickly fell into a rhythm of evening walks, gym dates, and cozy dinners at home, cherishing every moment they could share. Praying together and making big life decisions came easily to them, and before long, they both knew this was forever. Taylor proposed to Shelby on October 18, 2025—just one week before their one-year anniversary—at the top of Alta Ski Resort. They spent the rest of the evening soaking in the love and excitement of the moment in each other’s company before celebrating with friends the next day. The couple couldn’t be more thrilled for the next chapter of their lives and are so excited to celebrate with all the people they love most.
