Ryan and Shelby’s story began when life brought them both to Dallas, Texas—Ryan from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Shelby from Stephenville, Texas. In September 2019, they both started their first trimester of chiropractic school, not yet knowing that fate had placed them in the same lecture hall. On the second day of classes, everyone was asked to bring something to X-ray for radiology lab. Shelby came prepared with a rock, while Ryan had forgotten to bring anything. Noticing this, Shelby offered to let him borrow hers—without even knowing his name he walks away with her rock. That Friday, Ryan found Shelby in class to return the rock. They started talking, and Ryan admitted that he had noticed her at orientation the week before and thought she was “pretty cute.” Shelby was intrigued by Ryan and was curious where this interaction might lead them. Sure enough later that day, Ryan asked Shelby out on a date. At first, she was hesitant—but after thinking it over, she decided to give this tall, handsome Michigan guy a chance. The rest, as they say, is history. From that week on, Ryan and Shelby were inseparable—always side by side, in class and in life. Their love has been a testament to timing, faith, and fate. Ryan could have chosen any chiropractic school in the country, but he ended up exactly where Shelby was. They’ve always said it felt like God saved them for each other—and nothing could ever separate them. This November 9th marks over six years of love, laughter, and partnership.
