How We Met

We both swiped right.

In the past, Shelby had a thing for smart guys with blue eyes and Ryan had dated girls who were studying along side him in dental school. She wanted the furthest thing from "her usual type" and Ryan no longer wanted his conversations to revolve around teeth. They both ended up swiping right on Tinder, an online dating website and matched. However, the joke was on these two- Ryan indeed had those baby blues and was in the top of his class studying to be a dentist, and Shelby had been working in the dental field while trying to get into dentistry school herself. So Shelby in fact ended up with a blue-eyed smarty pants doctor and to this day the two have daily dinner conversations revolving around Ryan's day at the dental office. Story has it that Shelby messaged him first on Tinder, a week later he took her on their first date to the Wine Bistro, and 1,183 days later Ryan got down on one knee. It's funny, but so awesome how things work out!

Proposal

The future Mrs. Meers

The first summer Ryan and Shelby started dating they went ziplinning together at The Wilds Safari (check out the picture under the photo tab on our wedding website). Upon completion of the course Shelby's certificate read "Congratulations Shelby Meers!" Oops! Fast forward three years later and Ryan took Shelby to a cabin in Hocking Hills for the weekend to celebrate her thirtieth birthday. On May 11, Ryan surprised Shelby with a day of fun ziplinning across the beautiful scenery of Ohio. As the two were preparing to hit the trail, Shelby noticed Ryan was wearing a fanny pack. She knows Ryan's "causal" sense of style, but a fanny pack was definitely a first. Ryan quickly offered up that it was to keep his keys and phone safe since Shelby was not carrying a purse. She shrugged it off and felt the thrill and rush with each zip line ride. On the very last leg of the course, Ryan went first and when Shelby came zipping across the river she saw the best sight ever....Ryan down on one knee. After pure shock, heartfelt words, lots of happy tears and finally realizing the real purpose of that fanny pack it was a day to remember. Shelby's completion certificate this time around read "The Future Shelby Meers." She was destined to be Shelby Meers before she even knew it. Best. Day. Ever.
