The McCullough Gulch Trail is located 2.2 miles west of Highway 9 on the north side of Quandary Peak. It follows an old mining road .5 miles up the drainage before splitting off on a rugged path to White Falls and Upper Blue Reservoir. This spectacular lake has a long, open shore with many good vantages and nooks to explore. McCullough Gulch is a popular trail, especially among anglers and active families.
This is one of our favorite hike. You hike along the continental falls to Mohawk Lake. The views are amazing! Directions from Breckenridge: Take Hwy 9 south of town. Turn right into The Crown subdivision at Spruce Creek Road. Follow the main road, taking left turns at most intersections. Look for blue diamonds on the trees while driving through the subdivision. These will help you through the newer intersections that may not be left turns. The 2nd trailhead will be on the left after approximately 1.2 miles. Four wheel drive or high clearance vehicles may continue 1.5 miles to the upper trailhead. Spruce Creek Trail to Mohawk Lake and Continental Falls is a 6 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Breckenridge, Colorado that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
