We met shortly after I moved to LA at a beach bonfire hosted by some mutual friends (shout out to Chris and Lisa!). Kelly asked me out that night after bonding over Gilmore Girls, but I (reluctantly) said no as I was still in long distance relationship. A few months later, we saw each other again and Kelly surprised me with Green Day tickets on our first date. We went on a few dates, but ended up dating other people for a while. We would still see each other from time to time at parties. I was keen on moving back to Texas for a while to be closer to my family during my grandmother’s illness. I invited him to my going away party and we ended up reconnecting and going to Disneyland before I moved. We kept in touch while I was in Texas. After getting the job at Good American, I moved back to LA and we started dating. We were able to spend a lot of time together during the pandemic and completed a Lego treehouse, watched numerous movies, cooked together (well mostly Kelly, but I helped), and went on a lot of walks around the marina. On July 4th weekend, Kelly planned a surprise getaway to Lake Arrowhead and took me on a gorgeous hike. We got to a vista with a gorgeous view and sat for a moment to admire it. He said “This looks like a good spot,” and got down on one knee. I’m pretty sure I blacked out for a minute from excitement, but he popped the question and of course, I said yes!
