Jake and Shelby met while she was attending college at Ball State University. During Shelby's sophomore year she moved into an apartment with Jake's cousin, Taylor, one of her best friends from her freshman dorm. At the same time, Jake was starting a new job at Menards in Muncie. Sometimes he needed a place to stay when he had to work early in the morning, so Taylor offered their couch to him. After spending lots of time hanging out at their apartment, a spark began between Jake and Shelby. It began as a close friendship with movie nights and ice cream runs. Then one day Shelby realized how much she was crushing on Jake and found out that he felt the same way. Although Shelby was skeptical of his charm, she slowly opened her heart to him. Their friendship quickly developed into something more and soon they fell head over heels for each other. After 4 years of dating and lots of hints from Shelby that she was ready for the next step in their relationship, Jake finally proposed on December 7, 2019. It was the perfect evening, one that Shelby will never forget. One of Shelby's favorite Christmas traditions is attending the Luminaria Walk at Minnetrista in Muncie. The entire place is lit up with lights and covered in Christmas decorations. They walked up to an opening with light-up trees and Jake asked if they could take a picture together. Shelby thought this was a little odd because that's not usually something he brings up (it was usually her idea to take a picture), but she happily obliged. As soon as he turned to look at her, she knew what was happening and began to cry tears of joy and excitement. Jake got down on his knee and asked Shelby to spend forever with him. Of course she said yes! They then proceeded to the main museum building where both of their families were waiting to surprise Shelby and join in on the celebration. Shelby and Jake are more excited than ever about this next chapter of their lives and can't wait to celebrate their big day with you!
