Garrett and I have been together for three years now. The outdoors is where Garrett and I are able to simplify ourselves. We are able to connect with the people around us so well. After living in NC for one season, we were hooked. We spent winter 2018 in Asheville where we worked for the Biltmore. It was an incredible learning experience and we saved for a big trip in March. When March finally came, it was time to drive across country. We stopped at silly local attractions, like the biggest brick made of bricks (ended up being the second biggest). It was a load of fun. We went to a bunch of National Parks and camped out a ton. After going to New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado; WE FINALLY MADE IT BACK HOME TO MICHIGAN. We were beyond excited to see our friends and family from the Mitten. A few lovely friends live up in Marquette, MI so we went up to visit them. This is where Garrett decided to purpose in front of lake superior on a hike!! Fast forward to 6 months later back in North Carolina after a summer full of River Guiding down the Nantahala River. I’m having the toughest time planning a wedding. One morning, after an amazing night with friends, Garretr said, “Next month, when Karlie comes to visit, let’s just get married!” I didn’t want to jump in right away with out thinking it through, so I took the day to think. I ended up deciding that this is what is best for US. We knew a lot of our family and friends would not be able to attend, but most of our stress would be gone. On October 11, Garrett and I had the best day of our lives. We eloped in the Nantahala National Forest at the end of our favorite hike, surrounded by a few friends and a whole lotta trees. We had a bonfire, a cake, and some chewy gross pizza BUT IT WAS PERFECT! So, on April 18, we plan on having our friends and family at a mansion in Berrien Springs, Michigan to celebrate and just genuinely have a good time. WE LOOK FORWARD TO CELEBRATING WITH YOU
