After attending a mutual friends day party in June 2021, Dylan was intrigued on getting to know Shelby but nerves got the best of him. Two weeks later, he built up the courage to reach out, and the two quickly began texting. Just as their connection started to grow, Shelby learned that Dylan would be moving to Florida in a month. Fast forward to September 24th, Dylan's time in Florida was short-lived, and he made the decision to return to Michigan, settling in downtown Grand Rapids. Remembering the instant connection, Shelby didn’t hesitate to reach out again, especially since she was frequently visiting friends in Grand Rapids. With distance making a first date tricky, they planned to reconnect at the same mutual friend’s Halloween party. That night, they talked for hours, which sparked a love story of continuous visits every weekend to Grand Rapids, late night Facetime calls, and countless Sunday fundays adventures. After a year and a half of long distance, they took the next step and moved in together while Shelby continued working toward her specialist degree. Four and a half years later, Dylan asked Shelby to spend forever with him at one of their favorite places, the beach!!
