Shelby and Dustin met on May 2, 2018, when Shelby was scheduled to do a classroom observation of Dustin’s class. From the beginning, they both describe feeling an instant attraction. Shelby was very impressed with Dustin’s expertise and shared his passion for teaching. On that very first day, Shelby told her Mom that she wanted to be Mrs. Rawlins! Dustin describes his first impression of Shelby as beautiful, intelligent and friendly. He said when it came time to do an interactive dance activity with his students, he felt extremely comfortable dancing in front of her and Shelby didn’t hesitate to jump right in and dance with the class! After school, they shared conversation and discovered that they had much in common. Dustin said he felt this indescibable feeling, was very excited, and couldn’t wait to tell his Dad all about this girl that was unlike any girl he’d ever met before. He was in awe and couldn’t wait to see her again. Shelby continued her observation the following day and afterwards they continued to communicate on social media, exchanged numbers, and the rest is history. After a whirlwind romance, including trips to Rome, Mexico, San Francisco, Big Bear, and Las Vegas, Dustin proposed on August 31,2019!

After asking her parents for their blessings, Dustin proposed to Shelby in San Francisco during the Labor Day Weekend. She had no idea! What started off as what she thought was just a hike, turned out to be the best day of their lives, so far. Dustin dropped to one knee and of course Shelby said, “YES!”
