A boy walked into a bar on 06/15/17.... Brandon, 6'5 with green eyes, walked up the stairs of the rooftop bar at Los Chingones on a hot Thursday afternoon. This is where Shelby, 6'0 tall with blonde hair (at the time), was serving that day. Her 'tall girl radar' flashed on, and as he walked up the stairs she was instantly smitten. He sat in her section - just as she hoped, and as she found out later, he did too. Shelby quickly got over the fact that this very tall boy's name was Brandon (the very valid reason as to why this was a problem in the first place does not need to be explained), and hoped he'd leave his number. Although she forgot his hot sauce, he was also smitten, and after some encouragement from his coworker, he got the the guts to do it. As he walked downstairs to leave, she grabbed the receipt as fast as she could, turned it over, and there it was....the cutest note on the back that read.... "Stay tall and beautiful...would love to get a drink sometime. -Brandon Brown" Shelby was so excited she could burst through the ceiling - even though there was of course no ceiling. She couldn't wait to text him...she obviously had no chill in the world of dating games - no "wait three days" BS here. However, in good ol' Shelby fashion she lost her phone during her shift - or it was stolen, nobody truly knows. So after waiting all day long, when she got home, after thinking she had lost the receipt (this was quite the dramatic moment - her mother can explain this one in more detail), she nervously texted Brandon on her iPad saying, "Hey it's shelby from Los, when are we getting that drink..."
Brandon and I first said I love you on the rooftop of The Halcyon Hotel in Cherry Creek. Four years later he took me back for a little staycation. After a nice dinner at Quality Italian and a fun night out, he really threw me off when I went to bed at the hotel without that ring on. I convinced myself that there was no way that he would do it Saturday and that if it were to happen it would be probably be Sunday. Saturday morning, he told me that we were going to a "boujie brunch" so I should dress up (big clue that went over my head). Before leaving, I noticed he was wearing slacks...this boy never wears slacks (again, over my head clue), so I asked him why not jeans and his only answer was…”its boujie brunch babe!” When we got on the elevator, I did not realize that he pressed the button to go up and not down to the lobby. So I was quite confused when the elevator doors opened up to the rooftop. And when I asked why we were on the rooftop…his answer again was, “it’s boujie brunch babe!” We turned the corner and there was a cute set up in the corner with some champagne… this “clue” finally didn’t go over my head. He had me pop open the champagne (yes before he popped the question lol) and then after sitting down for maybe 30 seconds he started saying some very sweet nothings (that we both can’t seem to remember). Then he got down on one knee and asked the question that I had been dying to hear! After saying, “YES!” My good friend and photographer popped out from hiding and took some more pics of the happy moment. Then the surprises kept on comin. The next stop was brunch, ans when we got there he had my whole family waiting for us! How could I not start tearing up again?! I couldn’t believe for it to be possible to make the day anymore special. But then we left brunch to go get a drink with a couple of friends (so I thought) and -again- he surprised me with about 20 of our closest friends at the resturaunt. Yupp… he killed it! And to say the least, it was so far the best day of our lives.
