We worked together at Mimi's but we really didn't see each other until Sean and Paige (Shelby's sister) started hanging out. Sean started to come around more and I got to know him a little better through stories Paige told me about him. Finally, we started working together on the same shifts and one time we were talking about how we both had never been to the flea market on Berryessa (so romantic, I know). Paige was supposed to come with us that day but ended up not being able to make it so we went just the two of us. What I thought was going to be this awkward morning full of long stretches of silence ended up being an amazing day of incessant banter and constant laughter, which to this day hasn't stopped.

Sean knew for a long time that he wanted to marry Shelby. He spent all summer saving up for a ring and finding the perfect one and finally found it. Sean has always shied away public displays of affection so he waited for the perfect opportunity to surprise her. One night in September, Sean set up the backyard patio with dozens of string lights and romantic music. Sean was very nervous, even though he was pretty confident she would say yes. He led her outside with everything completely dark and quiet. As she set foot into the backyard, Sean (using his phone) lit up the patio twinkling lights, the beautiful song and asked Shelby to spend the rest of her life with him and she, of course, said yes!
