We tied the knot!

Lane and Shelbie met through Hinge, an online dating website. However, neither expected to find love, only casual conversation. Right away, they both knew there was something special and agreed to have their first date on May 24th, 2023. They met for pizza in a park, then decided to go for a drive to watch the sunset. Not only did they catch an amazing sunset, there happened to be a lightning storm the same night, making it even more thrilling. Dancing in the headlights that night, they both knew they were in for an adventure of a lifetime.

We decided on eloping because we wanted a wedding day that felt deeply personal and focused on what matters most to us: our love, our commitment, and an experience we will never forget. A quiet, intimate ceremony gives us the space to be fully present with each other as we begin this new chapter!

We got married on a simple Saturday morning at the Butte County Clerk Recorder’s Office in Oroville, California. Just eleven days before, we decided we didn’t want to wait any longer to start this next chapter of our lives together, so we planned a small, quick ceremony that felt true to us. Before the ceremony, we met at a nearby park for our first look. There wasn’t an aisle to walk down or a big crowd waiting, just the two of us taking in the moment together before heading to the courthouse. It was quiet, a little surreal, and full of excitement knowing that in just a short while we would officially be married. At 11:00 AM, we stood together in the clerk recorder’s office and said our vows. Even though the ceremony itself was simple and brief, that moment was the most meaningful part of the entire day. Hearing each other’s promises and realizing that this was the beginning of our life as husband and wife is something we’ll never forget. We ended the night in the simplest and most perfect way—sitting in bed together, filming a recap video of the day so we can watch it years from now and remember exactly how it felt to start this adventure. It wasn’t a big wedding, but it was completely ours—and the perfect beginning to our marriage.
