Andrew was working for Wells Fargo dealer services, and I was working for BMW. After numerous days in the office talking on the phone every Monday morning, I gave him my number. Dinner was something that was always talked about, but we never got around to (thank you nursing school). After numerous years of remaining friends and life taking us in different directions, we reconnected on social media and had our first date. Shortly after, friends and family were introduced and we knew this was something special. About 3 months into dating, we went to an Eli Young Band concert at Wilson Creek Winery. After a night of drinking, dancing and singing, a couple behind us tapped us on the shoulder and said: "You two need to get married!" We were so embarrassed, no "I love you's" had even been exchanged yet. They went on to tell us how contagious our happiness was and how you rarely see that anymore. We both consider this one of our favorite memories, among many others. Looking back on that night, its crazy that we are here now and starting this next chapter in our lives together.
Andrew popped the question at Brush Creek Ranch in Wyoming. This was a long awaited vacation for us and an opportunity to get away from our busy schedules. When this trip was first booked, the suspicions starting flying, but once I realized it was a hosted work trip I thought there was no way I would be getting a proposal. The ranch was phenomenal, we were completely unplugged from reality and able to enjoy nature. Night one of the trip, he took me to a look-out point on the ranch with 360 degree view of the mountains. The intention of this venture was supposed to be the ranch host showing us where we would ride horses tomorrow (smooth Andrew). I thought nothing of it, I had no idea what he was about to do. We took pictures of the scenery and acknowledged how crazy it was. Within minutes, he was down on one knee, cue the ugly crying. He put the ring on my finger and said: "Oh by the way, that guy that drove us up here, he's a photographer and getting pictures of the whole thing right now." Moral of the story, he nailed it, and I was utterly shocked. We soaked in the moment, popped champagne, and then made our way back down to the lodge to call our family and friends. The rest of that week was filled with horseback riding, rock climbing, bonfires, hikes, and lots of staring at my ring like love struck fiancé. After flying home, we were welcomed by our family and friends with open arms. The best proposal I could have imagined! And its true what they say ladies, the surprise is the best part.
