FINALLY <3

Shelbey and Matthew were introduced by their very good friends at Hanover College. Their first interaction was at Lambda Chi Alpha, Shelbey’s first question to Matthew was “Are you allergic to cats?” Followed by, “What is your favorite dog”. Matthew answered correctly!

Matthew had officially asked Shelbey to be his girlfriend while she was studying abroad in Australia in 2015. For the proposal, Matthew planned a family trip to the Columbus Zoo where they have a whole Australia exhibit. When they entered the kangaroo exhibit, Nicole was waiting there to surprise Shelbey to distract her so Matthew could get down on one knee. There were tears and in the crowded exhibit there was also applause when Shelbey said yes! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their original plans for the wedding in 2020 were disrupted. However, they were still able to gather with parents, grandparents, and siblings to show their love and take the vow of marriage. We were bummed we could not celebrate with everyone, but look forward to doing so close to their 2 year anniversary! Shelbey and Matthew now live in Michigan with their two most adorable kittens, Raven and Starfire, as well as their dog June while Shelbey attends Veterinary School. Shelbey will be graduating in May of 2022 and they will be moving back to the Cincinnati area! They appreciate everyone’s love and support and look forward to seeing everyone in June 2022!
