This 18-hole executive course is only a fifteen minute drive from Paradise Point and is welcoming to beginners and experienced golfers. It is also the only golf course in San Diego with night lighting. Fun Fact: This course is where Tiger Woods won a Junior World title.
Torrey Pines Beach Trail loop is a 2.3 mile trail that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The hike is finished with a walk along the beach. Afterwards, enjoy a well deserved beer or snack at The Grill at The Lodge at Torrey Pines Hotel. Or a coffee at Birdrock Coffee Roasters. Both are about a 5 minute drive from the parking lot.
Balboa Park includes seventeen museums, beautiful gardens, attractions and venues, and of course the world-famous San Diego Zoo. It is only a few minutes from downtown San Diego. We recommend looking at the website to see what new cultural events and performances before attending.
Sunset cliffs features expansive ocean views, dramatic cliff formations and caves, a fascinating intertidal area, and native coastal sage scrub habitat. You can walk along the 1.5 mile peninsula and enjoy the sunset while watching surfers ride the waves. Afterwards you can explore the bohemian and vibrant neighborhood that is Ocean Beach. Newport Avenue is only a ten minute drive from the cliffs and it is lined with antique shops, organic grocery stores and shops, taquerias and brewpubs. Or, grab a refreshing acai bowl from O.B Smoothie Bar & Subs and get a tan on the beach.
Costa Brava offers a true culinary experience of Spanish cuisine. Paul has been going to this restaurant for fifteen years and when he introduced me I knew this would be one of our regular spots. We suggest enjoying multiple tapas to share with friends. They also provide live Flamenco music on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights.
Enoteca Adriano is a staple in Pacific Beach. On Wednesdays they offer house made lasagna that is so popular guests have to call in to reserve. Paul and I have been going here regularly since we started dating. We usually never go anywhere else for Italian food. The restaurant is only open for dinner and it tends to book up fast so we suggest making a reservation before attending.
Rocky’s arguably has the best burger in San Diego, hands down. It is simple, the best hangover cure, and paired with around ten different local beers on tap. And it doesn’t hurt that this small pub is less then ten minutes away from Paradise Point.
Cantina Mayahuel was one of the first authentic Mexican restaurants I went to when I moved to San Diego. It is around a twenty-five minute Uber from Paradise Point. And you will definitely want to Uber because they have the longest tequila menu I have ever seen. This is the closest you can get to Mexico without crossing the border.
If you’re a sushi fanatic, Sushi Ota is the only place to go. It is hidden in a small strip mall but don’t let that steer you wrong that it is the freshest sushi you can find in San Diego. They are reservation only but the bar is first come first serve.
