Sheila & Kyle met at Northwestern Elementary School in the 4th grade. They have been friends ever since. Sheila & Kyle never dated in grade school. Sheila was always in a relationship so there was never a time for Kyle to profess his feelings for her, which put him in "the friend zone". It took going away to college, and they will both admit, a bit of liquid courage to finally get past the dreaded friend zone. And the rest is history. That was in the late Winter of 2008 and they have been together ever since. So you don't have to do the math, they are going on 12 years together.
For those that don't know, Follapalooza is a birthday celebration for Sheila & Serena. It's basically a weekend where they invite all of their friends to partake in camping, canoeing/kayaking and a beverage or two. This year was no different, except everyone was in on the proposal. Kyle's goal was to stall the canoe trip until everyone that he secretly invited could show up at the Kro Bar, and to somehow get Sheila out of the campsite to sneak everyone in. For those that know Sheila, she hates being late and being told what to do. So what Kyle had to do was a task in and of itself. He somehow managed to get Sheila in a vehicle on the guise that a friend was lost, & began to drive around Brule aimlessly, almost like he had never been to Brule before, which of course, made Sheila's spirit rise. They eventually went back to the campground where everyone was waiting for them. Sheila still had no idea what was about to happen and was angry to say the least. When they got to the top of the campsite Sheila didn't notice there was about 15 new people who weren't there before. Kyle turns to Sheila and says, "You remember how always say I never plan anything?...". And gets down on one knee and proposes!! She, of course, said yes.
