I was in 7th grade he was in 8th, I saw that rockstar 80’s hair and that was it I had the biggest crush. Too bad he didn’t know I existed. But a girl always remembers her first crush. As the years past unknown to us we were still circling each others lives. When my ex husband and I moved to Salem Oregon, Ted moved to Salem one month later to attend Law school at Willamette University. Neither of us knew the other was there. Later in 2021 one drunken night he plucked up the courage and sent me a message. I guess he knows I exist now. 😂After that it was one conversation after another, until one day, I quoted Young Frankenstein and that was it, he was in love. I was newly separated from a 22 year marriage and as sometimes happens it didn’t work. Clearly I wasn’t ready. However, we remained friends. Not as close as we were but no hard feelings towards each other. Until one night he needed a friend someone to help him in a tough situation and he called me. We talked and I hadn’t heard his voice for over a year and a half. I realized how much I missed him and I guess he felt the same. Months passed we stayed in contact. I sent him a small gift for Christmas and he to me. A few months later I welcomed my fist granddaughter into this world. Ted sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers to congratulate me. Then came the call that ended up changing everything. He asked where I was going to be. I didn’t think anything about it, I just thought it was because he was going to be coming up to our home town to see his family. I was so wrong. At my business in Salem he sent me the biggest most beautiful bouquet of 3 dozen long stem roses with candy, a cocktail dress and some beautiful earrings wanting to take me out. Once we started talking he told me he was still in love with me and I told him how much I missed him as well. From that moment on we were inseparable. A year and a half later we were engaged. I cannot fathom my life without him.
