If you have any other questions, feel free to email us at garyandsheenawedding@gmail.com.
Question

What is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than August 12th.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Festive semi-formal! We encourage bright colors, patterns, and fun silhouettes. Other than white, no color, material, or cut is off limits. The ceremony will also take place outside on the lawn, so be mindful that block heels will probably be most comfortable.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

The weather ranges in December, but we expect it to be fairly mild -- in the mid-60s during the day and 50s at night (the ceremony will be in the afternoon and reception will be in the early evening). Please bring a coat in case of cold weather. While December is not a particularly rainy time of year here, it's always possible that we'll get some showers. If it does rain, we will have a tent and umbrellas.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The wedding will be outdoors. However, we will have a tent in case of weather, and we have access to the large house on site.

Question

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

Please aim to arrive by 1:30 PM.

Question

How should I get to the venue?

Answer

Because many people are staying nearby, we aren't chartering a bus or pickup. The neighborhood is very walkable for those who are staying in the Bywater. If you're staying further away, we recommend taking Lyft or Uber.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

There is only street parking. However, we live in the neighborhood and can confidently say there will be plenty of space.

Question

Are plus-ones allowed?

Answer

Because this is a small wedding, most people do not have plus-ones. All invited guests will be indicated on the envelope of the invitation. If you have a question about who in your party was invited, please reach out to Sheena or Gary.

Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

Due in part to the small size of the wedding, the only children invited are Sheena's siblings. If you need advice on childcare in the area or cannot attend due to parental obligations, we completely understand and will do what we can to help or make recommendations.

Question

I have a dietary restriction. What should I do?

Answer

We're already aware that several of our guests have dietary restrictions, and we will have options for them. Please indicate in your RSVP that you have a dietary restriction, and don't hesitate to reach out with any concerns.

Question

Where should I stay in New Orleans?

Answer

If possible, we suggest staying in the Bywater or Marigny neighborhoods. If you can't find anything to your liking in these neighborhoods, there are plenty of options in the French Quarter, which is very nearby (and fun to stay in!). New Orleans is fairly restrictive with short-term rentals (though there are some options, especially for larger groups), so we recommend staying at a bed and breakfast or a hotel. Some nearby options we'd recommend include: Bywater Suite Hotel The Railyard NOLA (LGBTQ-centered bed and breakfast) Hotel Peter and Paul Auld Sweet Olive Bed & Breakfast The Burgundy Bed & Breakfast Please let us know if you're having a hard time finding something, and we're happy to personally recommend lodging.

Question

How should i get around in new orleans?

Answer

For most guests and activities out of walking distance, we recommend using Uber or Lyft to get around. Because so many activities will be in the Bywater, it shouldn't be necessary to take a car. The Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods are highly walkable, though it's important to note that they can be poorly lit with broken sidewalks. If you're wearing heels, watch your step! If you're interested in taking a street car, go for it! Just keep in mind that they aren't well-connected to our neighborhood, so you will need to walk about a mile to the French Market or Elysian Fields stops to take it. For those concerned about personal safety while they travel and explore the city, we recommend treating New Orleans like any other city. We've never felt unsafe, but it's always good practice to keep your wits (and possessions) about you in high-traffic areas, like the French Quarter.

Question

I have a mobility impairment. What should I know?

Answer

The venue itself should be easily navigable -- there aren't any stairs that guests will need to go up, and all core events will take place at the same venue. If you would like to attend the after party, it will be a short walk (a few blocks away). If you expect to need transportation there, let Sheena know, and we will arrange it in advance. Unfortunately, New Orleans itself is not particularly friendly to those with disabilities -- many sidewalks are broken and buildings have narrow staircases with few elevators. Again, we are happy to make recommendations in advance about the best places to go during your stay and where to avoid.
