How They Met

His POV: Like the rest of great modern relationships, Sheel and I met through a dating app called DilMil. Some could go as far as saying it was love at first swipe. There was the typical back and forth to vet out the other to ensure they are not a 45-year-old human trafficker. Once we got past that, I began to see the things I have come to love about her: her personality, her sense of humor (she laughs at my jokes), her positive attitude, and many more things. Being eight hours apart, our favorite state has slowly become West Virginia as that is where a lifetime relationship started. Her POV: Oh look at those dimples and look at that smile! I guess you could say it was love at first swipe. It was his funny joke that got the conversation going and there has never been a dull day since. I gave it about two days of texting before I made him pick up the phone to what was the start of endless calls and facetimes for no reason. When I actually met Milan in person for the first time, the first thing he did was he shook my hand…. I was actually in disbelief. Not even a hug. Just a handshake. But when we both parted ways, I knew he was the one. I was done searching for anyone else because I had found the one.

Favorite Memory

His POV: My favorite moment would be spending Valentine’s Day Weekend together in New York City. As cliché as it sounds, it truly was a magical experience where I got to witness the beauty of NYC and Sheel at the same time. No matter what we were doing, she was passionate about being in the moment and enjoying every second of our “adventure”. The key highlight was how she kept her poise in the subways, especially with a crazy person in her face that made me want to never get on a subway again. Her POV: Anytime we are together, it is a new favorite memory being made and Milan would say the same. But if I truly had to pick one, it would be our most recent trip to New York City for a couples weekend with my two friends of which it was truly the first time Milan was meeting everyone. What made it so special for me was that he truly stepped out of his comfort zone, trying new things, and just continuously being my number one hype man! New York City is one of my favorite places and being able to take Milly to see and do the things I love brings me such joy. The one thing I look forward to most in our forever journey is traveling with my best friend.

Proposal

His POV: Our proposal was something that still brings a smile to my face. I have never been known as an extensive planner, or organizer of events. In fact, I am not even the best at keeping secrets. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention all of the help I received from her friends/sister in planning this once in a lifetime surprise. The morning of, my mind was scrambled as we had misplaced the engagement ring (it was moved from its original hiding spot). We tricked her into thinking we were heading to her friend’s birthday brunch, and along the way Sheel unknowingly bought the flowers for her own proposal. The proposal was one thing, but the big surprise was my family driving down from Cincinnati, Ohio to surprise her and celebrate with us. Her POV: Am I very hard to surprise? Yes. Did I have any idea this proposal was happening? Absolutely not. I had a basic list of things I wanted for when it was time for the proposal. - It had to be a complete surprise - I wanted Bruno Mars’ song to be played - I wanted a thought out speech as to why he wanted to marry me When Milan was coming down for week long trip to NC, I had told the family that I wanted to treat the family out to a spa day. I told them we should go on Friday. However, my mother was very insistent that we go to the salon on Thursday as they do not “clean the place very well on Fridays-Sundays”… Not sure why that was the excuse I bought, but whatever it took to get my mom to go to the nail salon with us. Yay for pretty nails in time for the bling. The day of the proposal, we get to the venue and I hear Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are playing and the first thought was “I love Bruno. This is my favorite song” It did not even occur to me that he was proposing until I saw the beautiful set up with all of our pictures printed and he was down on one knee. I did not even want to let him finish telling me all the reasons he loved me, because his speech was too long and I just wanted to say YES!!
