From Erin's Perspective: Erin had just moved to San Diego for a new job with the Padres and decided to make life easy (for Tico) by moving into an apartment building across from the ballpark. While she was moving in, she met her cute neighbor from a few doors down named Rob with his two small Yorkies. She immediately thought "dog sitter." It wasn't until about a month later that he asked her out. Five hours into their first date, she knew he was a keeper. From Rob's Perspective: I saw Erin in the elevator and thought to myself she was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. I casually asked her out, she agreed ... but then we didn't actually go out until a few weeks later when we ran into each other again and set up a proper date for February 23rd. It was then I discovered she didn't have a college football team so could adopt the Sooners. We've been together ever since.
During Rob's first visit to Detroit, Erin had a detailed itinerary to show him the best of the city. (First stop obviously was to Lafayette Coney Island.) Rob mentioned on the way to the airport in San Diego that he had booked a tour of Tiger Stadium for that Saturday. Erin was puzzled because "Jerry can give you a tour" and the Galdes family Christmas party was scheduled for that same day. She asked him to change it and said her mom would be mad at him for messing up the party plans. When they landed in Detroit, Anne said that the party time had been changed until later that day (she was in on it) so it all would work out. Saturday morning, they headed to the old Tiger Stadium for the "tour." Thinking it was odd when the "tour guide" wasn't really giving any history, Erin started asking a LOT of questions. As they made their way toward home plate, Rob jumped in and said "I have a question." When Erin turned around, he was down on one knee.
