In Washington, D.C. the neighborhood of Georgetown is home to Georgetown University and a bustling shopping section with boutiques, ice cream shops, and restaurants. Historic houses line nearby streets. The oldest house in D.C, the Old Stone House is right on M Street, the main thoroughfare for many boutiques and restaurants. While upscale chain stores are omnipresent, there are a few unique local shops and small chain stores located in this bustling section of Georgetown. Walking north up Wisconsin Ave. brings you to Book Hill and a collection of independent shops, galleries and antique stores.
