My maid of honor, Jacklyn, was the one who intrigued me about the man who sits at the corner of the bar at the restaurant she and I worked at. The trio of gentlemen are regulars and one of them is single and "super nice! I swear, Steph." That's not sketchy, Jackie. But.. okay. I needed nice. Plus, the beard was very persuasive. My customer service voice came out and after I sat this couple in the bar, I stopped by the corner of the bar, I smiled and said hello. The other gentlemen joined in the conversation with me, while the one I came over to talk to was quiet and listening intently. If you asked him, I was very intimidating and that is why he was quiet. Weeks have passed and we became friends on Facebook. Shortly after, messaging on Facebook Messenger, like everyday. Couple more weeks went by, I finally gave in and passed on my phone number. It did not take long before we went on our first date to the Tipsy Turtle in Forty Fort. (I really wanted crabby fries.) We closed the restaurant and he was a perfect gentleman; opened my car door for me and texted to make sure I made it home safe. That was the beginning of March. By the end of the month, we were officially a couple. A year later, we moved in together. Three years of pure (annoyance and) bliss, we were engaged and had a daughter, Gwenivere Jeanne. Now, you get to be apart of the next journey of our relationship and we cannot be more thankful for the extra family members we will be gaining.
Over the years of living together, planning our future, asking how many kids we wanted and what our wedding would be like, I knew this was going to be the man I would marry.. but when was he going to ask? I knew it was approaching because I knew he did not want to waste anymore time of ours of just "dating". Let's spend the rest of our lives as husband and wife. Little did I know, he was in communication with his sister Molly and keeping this secret that he is purchasing a ring. He took my advice and notes and bought me a beautiful ring. When it finally arrived, my parents came over (for something, my memory on that day is a little blurry from the excitement) and there were these fire trucks, quads, trucks, so many vehicles going down the street. What the hell was going on? Sheamus asked my father to take a drive with him down the road to investigate and Walter came back strangely smiley... Hmmm. A few hours later, we agreed to get pizza takeout for dinner and he left to go pick it up. I was getting the house together, getting plates and glasses, making our drinks and enjoying the beautiful day in April. He came inside and I was throwing something away while he was going down on one knee and opening the tiny box with this shiny ring inside... He said "Will you marry me?" and his favorite part of this whole entire story was that I replied with "Are you sure?" Whoops.... We were always talking about waiting because we had things to do and finish! It wasn't my fault. I - ugh, my bad, Sheamus. He said he was going to have this whole hoopla planned and make this super special for me, but he said this was more than perfect; us home with baby boy Winston, eating pizza, drinking on the deck and enjoying each other's company, that he decided right then and there, that this moment was the perfect time to ask and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
