A Mayoun ceremony, also similar to a haldi ceremony, is a traditional event that takes place in the bride's home. This is a fun way to celebrate with the special ladies in the bride's life before she begins her new journey as a wife! The groom and bride are not allowed to see each other until their big day. This is an ancient ritual that consists of applying turmeric paste on the bride's face and hands. The application of the turmeric paste is believed to give blessings for the soon to be bride along with enhancing her beauty. Turmeric symbolizes purity, fertility and wards off any evil spirits, which is essential for a new bride to be. In addition, this is when Mehendi, or henna, is applied to all of the guests! You can wear bright colors in either traditional indian desi clothing or wear a dress of your choice!
