What is a Sangeet? What should I expect?

The Sangeet is a traditional South Asian pre-wedding celebration and is one of the most fun nights you'll ever attend. The word "Sangeet" means music, and the evening is centered around exactly that: dancing, live music or DJs, vibrant colors, and a whole lot of joy. Guests from both sides of the family come together to celebrate the couple before the big day. No experience or prior knowledge needed, just show up ready to have a great time.

What should I wear to the Sangeet?

The Sangeet dress code is festive and colorful, this is your chance to have fun with your outfit! We encourage guests to wear bright, vibrant colors. If you'd like to wear traditional South Asian attire like a salwar kameez, kurta, lehenga, or saree, please do, we would absolutely love it. If that's not in your wardrobe, think cocktail-party-meets-colorful. Just avoid white, cream, or black as your primary color for this event.

Can non-Indian guests wear traditional Indian clothing to the Sangeet?

100% yes, and we genuinely encourage it! Wearing traditional Indian attire to a Sangeet is a sign of celebration and respect, and it is always warmly welcomed. If you're new to shopping for Indian clothing, a quick search for "ready-to-wear lehenga" or "kurta set" on sites like FabIndia, Utsav Fashion, or even Amazon can get you something beautiful without much effort. When in doubt, colorful and festive is always the right call.

Are both events mandatory, or can I come to just one?

You are warmly invited to both, and we would love to have you at every moment of the celebration! That said, we understand travel and schedules aren't always easy. If you can only make one, no love will be lost, just let us know so we can plan accordingly.

What is the dress code for the wedding ceremony?

The wedding ceremony dress code is formal/black tie. As with the Sangeet, we love color, so feel free to wear something vibrant if you'd like. We do ask that guests avoid white, cream, or ivory out of respect for the bride.

Answer

True to who we are, the food across both days will be a love letter to both of our cultures. Expect a spread that brings together the bold spices of Indian cuisine and the warm, rich flavors of Mexican food, with options for a variety of dietary needs.
