We met when we were both Active Duty and ended up getting placed on the same shift. Sharing some mutual friends, we quickly became a part of the same hangout circle. After work one night, we met up at a bar called Fire & Ice at the Dover Downs casino with our usual group of friends from work. Shayna thought John Paul was cute and it happened to be his birthday the next day, so she bought him a drink. After that we started hanging out every day & made it official on 06.16.18!

John Paul had been secretly coordinating with a photographer leading up to the big moment which took months of hard work and planning! John Paul's mother Maria had reached out to Shayna & had asked her to do a photo shoot with their dog Roxy so her friend Meghan could "build her portfolio". (She was actually a professional John Paul had hired). We met at Brewster Gardens in Plymouth with Roxy in tow and shot some family photos. For the last photo spot, we were at the covered archway getting some kneeling photos with Roxy. Meghan asked them to stand up, Shayna did & John Paul stayed kneeling & pulled out a gorgeous ring! "Will you marry me?" he asked, "Are you serious?, YES" she said! John Paul had made reservations at Shayna's favorite restaurant SALT on the waterfront and his parents had sent over a bottle of champagne to continue the celebrations and complete the perfect day.
