In March 2020, the pandemic was raging, and there was nothing to do but swipe right and left on Tinder. On one unassuming day, while doing my (Shayna) daily check, I saw a notification that somebody (Connor) had superliked me. From there, Connor messaged me first with a cheesy (baking-related) pick-up line, I couldn't help but respond; the rest is history.
After weeks of talking online, the world was starting to open up again, and there was a chance to meet in person. We arranged to meet in Wolfville at his place to go on a little adventure to Evangeline Beach and the lookout. Safe to say after that, the dates never ended.
After a long Christmas Eve shift at the bakery, we headed up to Connor's mom's place for Christmas. Despite the challenges of travelling with our furbaby, Draco, it didn't stop Connor from convincing me to go on a hike with him to one of our favourite spots (Stoney Hill). Connor gave an extremely detailed and elaborate story about how an airplane was going to tow a banner designed to look like Santa's sled in the name of spreading Christmas cheer, and I was convinced because I did hear an airplane off in the distance. After finding the perfect viewing spot, Connor distracted me by saying, "What's that in the water?" and when I turned around to look, he got down on one knee and proposed.
