The journey of our love story began the modern way: swiping right on Hinge in May 2020, right at the peak of Covid. Conversation clicked right away, chatting about our shared interests of travel and food. Shayna was living in Woodmere for the first few months of Covid, while Aaron remained back in NYC, just a 10 minute walk from Shayna’s East Village apartment. Shayna decided to spend the weekend back in the city and was the one to initially ask Aaron to hang out! Our first date took place on June 6th and since bars and restaurants were still not open, we opted for “to-go” cocktails from the Wayland which we drank in the ever tranquil Tompkin’s Square Park. Our connection was instant. Shayna extended her stay in the city and we saw each other 2 more times that week! Although Covid brought a time of fear and uncertainty, it allowed us to slow down and gave us the space to get to know each other and eventually fall in love. Since then, we’ve traveled the world together! From our first road trip to North Carolina, skiing in Utah and Vermont, visiting friends in Miami, weekend getaways to South Carolina, an anniversary trip to Hudson, NY, our cross country trip to Oregon, Denver, Chicago and Wisconsin revolving around Jets and Michigan football, sky diving in Hawaii, eating tacos in Mexico City, visiting Aaron’s college grounds in Ann Arbor, to our biggest trip, traveling 20+ hours to Vietnam! When we're not traveling, we love dancing at concerts and trying out new recipes! A new Covid hobby, we discovered our love of cooking together, and take turns as chef and sous-chef in the kitchen! We also love going out to eat, with our favorite go-to date night consisting of handrolls at Kazunori followed by ice cream from Milk Bar. Finally, the time came to propose! The proposal occurred in March 2023 when Aaron solicited the help of Shayna's friends to organize a fake girl's night at TimeOut Market under Brooklyn Bridge, in Dumbo. When Shayna arrived, she could not believe that it was Aaron standing there with flowers! Aaron got down on one knee and popped the question! After some photos, the two started home, planning to stop for some food and make calls to their families to announce the news! However, Aaron had one more surprise up his sleeve, as both of their families were waiting at the restaurant! We've been so lucky our lives have already been so full of adventures and we can’t wait to share our biggest adventure yet with each and everyone of you as we celebrate our wedding on January 14th, 2024!
