We met on our first day of class in our graduate program at USF for teaching. As the weeks passed we each started sitting closer to each other. Eventually we would sit next to each other each class, pass notes and go out for beers after class in Old Sacramento. The rest is history!

In the summer of 2019 we went on a three week trip to Spain and Italy. On our second night of the trip in Barcelona we went to dinner at a small tapas restaurant called "Sensi Bistro." Near the end of the dinner Matt popped the question! Luckily, a very nice Dutch woman filmed the whole thing. The Australian tourists next to us were very excited and fed us limoncello for the rest of the night!
