Flight

Heraklion International Airport (HER)

WHEN TO BOOK: The recommendation for Greece is about 6 months in advance. It's advisable to book by the end of 2023. SEARCHING FOR FLIGHTS: We suggest using Google Flights to see multiple options from several airlines and then booking directly with that airline. Personally, we would avoid any third party websites (Expedia, Travelocity, etc.) due to issues when flights change or get canceled. Plus, you'll earn miles if you book directly with an airline! TRAVELING BEFORE OR AFTER: Our hope is that you'll be able to take advantage of traveling abroad for our wedding and plan some personal travel before or after the wedding. We suggest getting creative with different flight routes to help save you money. Depending on where you decide to travel, we suggest researching a round trip ticket out of a larger hub/airport and buying tickets for Crete separately. For example, if you plan to visit Germany it can be more cost effective to buy a round trip ticket to Germany and a round trip ticket to Crete, instead of purchasing one-way tickets from the States to Crete, Crete to Germany, Germany to States.

Rental Car

Transportation

CAR RENTAL (Our Recommendation): To find a rental car we recommend looking on Kayak.com or www.heraklion-airport.info/car-hire.html for pricing and then booking directly. On average a small car in Crete costs around $28/day or $140 for the 5 days, including full coverage. Please note: most rental cars are a manual unless requested. An automatic car is around $65 extra. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is required in Greece. You can obtain an IDP from AAA by mail or in person for $20. More information can be found here: https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html TAXI'S: Taxi's are available at the airport 24/7. You can catch one upon arrival or schedule ahead. From the airport (HER) to Elounda is around $80 one way. More information can be found here: https://www.heraklion-airport.info/taxi.html UBER/LYFT/RIDESHARE: There are none on the island of Crete.

Art Villas Greece

Our wedding celebration will take place at Art Villas Greece from June 25th-29th. It is comprised of three separate villas. The ceremony, reception, and guest accommodations will be held within. With a total capacity of 36 people, priority will be given to immediate family and the wedding party for on-site accommodation. Kindly let us know if you'd like to stay in the villa or prefer to find nearby accommodation.

Hotel

ELOUNDA ORAMA

If you prefer a hotel stay, we've arranged a room block at Elounda Orama, just 5 minutes from the villa. A limited number of rooms are available at a 10% discount. We'll provide a booking code once it's available.
