After both deciding to pack up and move to Nashville, TN on a whim - Shaylin from California and Ryan from North Carolina - the two did what any modern-world single adult does and joined a dating app! In addition to Shaylin’s stunning beauty of course, it was a comment about loving mocha almond fudge ice cream on her Hinge dating profile that drew Ryan’s attention and led him to break the ice for their first conversation (Ryan loves his ice cream!). After a few days of chatting on the app and getting to know one another, Ryan and Shaylin felt immediate chemistry and made plans to meet up in person for their first date - at the rooftop cocktail lounge atop of the Grand Hyatt hotel in downtown Nashville. Drinking cocktails on a great outdoor patio area with a stunning skyline view of the city, their first date went smashingly. It was love at first sight and the rest was history - is what they had each hoped to be feeling… The truth is, they were both feeling a bit nervous and the chemistry they had when texting each other did not quite translate on that first date. Both walked away with their reservations about whether the relationship had potential to go any further from there, but fortunately Shaylin’s “second date rule” paved the way for date number two! Knowing Mexican food to be the key to any girls heart, Ryan asked Shaylin out for date number two at a Mexican restaurant just up the road from her in Franklin, TN - and the rest really was history from there! The two continued to build their relationship, making exciting memories together on dates that included: crafting homemade candles out of wine bottles, walks and hammocking at the park, a trip to the Nashville Zoo and to a local goat farm (Shaylin loves her baby goats!), axe throwing, outdoor concerts, carving pumpkins and making gingerbread houses, and so much more! They went on trips and met each other’s families. They fell in love and knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with each other. Then a year from that second date, Ryan brought Shaylin to Arrington Vineyards, a nearby winery, and while sitting on a bench swing that hung from a tree overlooking scenic views of the vineyards and surrounding mountains, he got down on one knee and popped the ultimate question! Both Ryan and Shaylin spent years searching in the wrong cities before finding their one true love. All it took was moving across the country to Tennessee in order to find their soulmate at last! Fate drew them together at the perfect time, and may have had a hand in that second date rule too!
