Bryce and Shayley met almost 20 years ago as children. Shayley and her brother Bryan were some of the first gymnasts at Xtreme Altitude Gymnastics back in the early 2000s. Shayley was preparing for her first year of competitive gymnastics when she joined the team in 2005. One of the girls on her team happened to be Bryce’s sister. While Shayley's brother was going into his second competitive season, he just so happened to be on a team with Bryce. This was the start of their story. As the gymnastics season went on, our families bonded and became childhood friends. They would spend the upcoming years going camping, playing at the park, spending days at WaterWorld, celebrating birthdays, and having sleepovers. During this time, Shayley was busy developing her first crush on her best friend's older brother, Bryce. As the years passed and they grew older, friendships faded and family dynamics changed, but Shayley’s crush never faltered. As Shayley entered her high school years and faced many hardships, she rekindled her friendship with Bryce and turned to him for advice during tough times. The years passed, Shayley graduated, and Bryce returned to Colorado. With more time on their hands, Shayley and Bryce began to hang out, and Shayley was integrated into the friend group. Although Shayley still had a crush on Bryce, she had given up all hope years ago, telling herself it would never happen. Life happened, and people got busy, causing their friendship to fizzle out again. Fast forward to the fall of 2021 when Shayley opened her Instagram DMs to find a message from Bryce. However, this time something seemed different. They began talking again, and things fell back into place as they always do. December rolled around, and Shayley had New Year’s plans, trying to convince Bryce to come. However, a downtown Denver night of clubbing in a massive blizzard was not his scene. After Shayley’s night went horribly wrong—ending with one friend in an ambulance, no Ubers available in the two feet of snow, and a two-hour walk home with her roommate and friend—she hit the bed and called Bryce. While liquid confidence may have influenced her decisions, as the sun came up and a four-hour phone call came to an end, she decided now was her chance. She asked Bryce when he was taking her on a date, and he promptly responded with “tonight.” Hours went by, and the post-night-out debrief with friends came to a close, cars were collected, and Shayley got dressed and drove to Bryce’s house. Filled with butterflies (but actually so nervous she was going to puke), she had the best date of her life. She knew from that moment on it was a forever type of thing. After 208 days of dating, 2 days engaged (Shayley proposed), and 2.9 years of marriage, Bryce and Shayley officially say "I do" on April 27th, 2025.
